What a Girl Wants

Amelia's favorite phrase lately is "I'nt ____!" Oh, you don't speak 15-month-old? That's "I want ____!" And let me tell you, Little Miss Stubborn wants a lot of things. And she wants them NOW.

I'nt ...

1. This: The thing that I am pointing to, looking at, or merely thinking about.  NO, not that, you imbecile parent!  The other thing!

2. Mah-weez: The item (food, drink, toy, clothing, etc.) Marley has.  Could also be something of his I know he doesn't want me to have.  He he he.

3. Mama: You'd think this one would be self-explanatory, but Mama could actually be referring to either parent.  Yes, I can say Dada, too, but I'm a busy baby!  Who has time to keep these things straight?

4. Muh: I'm talking about food here, people!  And don't tell me I can't ask for more just because I haven't had any yet. Don't act like you don't know what I mean - I'm signing it, too.  Here, let me repeat it over and over with increasing urgency.  That should speed things along.

5. Bance: I want to balance on that ledge like Marley is doing.  Don't try to hold my hands - I can do it by myself!

6. Gups: And don't try to cut them in half this time!  I want my grapes whole, just like my big brother!

7. Wah-uh: Don't leave your water bottle unattended because I WILL find it, and I WILL drink/spill ALL of it!

9. Bass: You say you are just changing my diaper, but I think my partial nudity is the perfect opportunity for a mid-day bath!  Whaddaya say?  What if I sign it, too?  Aren't I cute?  Doncha want to bathe me now?

10. Boo-bahz: You'll have to use context for this one.  I either want blueberries (and, no, I don't care if they're frozen - hey, you opened the freezer, it's your own fault if I'm lightning fast!) or boobies (now, which parent has those again?).
