Another One

Marley: Achoo!
Dawn: Bless you!  That was a wet one.  Do you need a tissue?
Marley: Yes, I need to blow my nose.  I need to blow my shirt and my hand, too.

Marley-isms

Jeff: Do you want to stand on the chair and help me make waffles?
Marley: Yes! I love standing on the chair!

Dawn: (upon seeing Marley emerge from the back yard with dirt all over his face) Did you fall down?
Marley: (spitting) Puh! No. Puh!
Dawn: Did you eat some dirt?
Marley: Yes.
Dawn: What did it taste like?
Marley: Flowery.

Marley: (upon seeing Dawn sprinkle granola into her yogurt) I want to put some bird seed in mine, too!

Marley: (referring to his Happy Meal toy) What's this guy's name?
Dawn: Wolverine
Marley: (a few minutes later) Can I take Tamberine into the bathtub with me?

Library Time

We've been having a really good time hanging out at the Library this summer. Marley is finally out of the stage where he runs down the aisles pulling books off shelves, yells "Echo!" and the top of his lungs the moment we enter the building, and tries to do a "search" on all the computers.  I realize there is only a short window before Amelia enters this stage, and I plan to enjoy it while I can.  Marley knows where the kids' section is and doesn't even try to go anywhere else. He sits down at the table and works puzzles all by himself. He pulls books off the shelf one at a time and looks through them carefully. He listens attentively when I read to him. It's my dream come true! And I LOVE discovering new books with him. There is so much great children's literature out there.
Today, for example, we both really enjoyed reading Some Dogs Do by Jez Alborough.  It is such a sweet story.  And Marley was even able to retell it to Jeff later.  Seeing him get as excited about books as I do makes me so incredibly happy! Which is why I'm really disappointed that our library will be closing down next week for almost a MONTH for re-roofing.  There are other branches nearby, but none within walking distance.  Oh well, the good news is that we won't have to return Some Dogs Do until the end of September!
