I flipped through the book during my planning time when the order arrived at school the other day, and found myself sobbing uncontrollably by the end. Throughout the book the following refrain is repeated:

Where would I be,
What would I do,
Who in the world would see me through?
Where would I be,
What would I do,
Without you?
This part, in particular, really got me:
I know that she's somewhere out there without us.
But I've got to believe she's thinking about us.
She'll come back to you and me soon,
You'll see...
*sniff*
Of course when I shared the book with Jeff, tears welling up in my eyes, he replied, "Jeez, it's not like you're out there being chased by whales or anything."
Thanks, Dear.

reading that made me tear up....although with my mom passing away recently (if you can call almost 2 years recent) it's understandable. =) LOVE Jeff's comment. =) No wonder he and Dustin are friends. =)
Oh Gosh that reminds me of Freddy the Leaf, but best of all *I'll love you forever*
given to me by Sammie when we were overwhelmed with taking care of our sick dieing Mother. I recommend it to anyone who is taking care of a elderly loved one.
Don't read The Giving Tree! Jeff's comment made me laugh....Sorry men are such....MEN!
I've done it too, sobbing while reading a children's story book, but I was in the middle of Meijers. I could believe I was crying at Meijers after reading the story, I had to buy it.The worst part is I don't even have kids to read it to. "Someday" by Alison McGhee.
That book would make me cry, too, and I did read "Love you Forever" to my dying mother. and BTW. I'm not sure you even get used to losing your mother. Mine has now been gone 8 years, and I miss her almost every day. But I HATE The Giving Tree. I had to do an annotated bibliography in my kiddie lit class, and I slammed it. I call it The Taking Boy.
